Dell = AMD shortage?

Post by Sovereign »

Apparently, AMD's decision to partner with Dell has increased demand so much for AMD processors that it has hurt the small distributors who "made AMD," according to this article. I think it's funny and sort of ironic that AMD, once the little guy who had no hope of taking on Intel is now so popular that its fabs can't keep up. It's also ironic if the chip maker for the rest of us screws over the little guys who sold nothing but AMD because their chips were cheaper.

Well with any luck they take those record profits to put toward building larger more efficient supply chains, which would debunk this rumor and put them back in a better light for the larger community. If not, then I guess we'll all be looker toward greener pastures. Seems like its high time for a third, large CPU company to appear, doesn't it?
