nVidia 6600 Go upgrade question

Post by DeusEx »

i have the nvidia 6600 go 128 mb video card in my asus z71v laptop (like indicated in the sig :| ). anyway, i remember a while ago it was said that upgrades might come out and i might be able to put in a better card into the laptop. i wasnt paying attention to technology lately so i dont know if i missed anything. did anything come out? can i upgrade? id like to have better graphics but i dont want to buy a new computer just for that...

ANY insight will be appreciated. Thank you.

Edit: No one knows? :(

Uhm, well I'm no laptop guru either Nvidia has a whole line of 7xxx GO series cards for laptops. I'm not sure what the requirements to run them are and the exact specs of your system but I'm sure you can probably use in the series. Do some checking on Nvidia site for starters.

The main things you have to worry about are heat and affect on battery life. You have to find out what kind of MXM you have. According to this site there are three different sizes of MXMs. You don't want to buy the wrong type...that would suck. The same site shows that there are several different physical designs with MXM, so you have to find one that has the right interface size AND fits around the rest of your laptop innards.

Try MXM-Upgrade, they probably could help you more than I can...back to my International Politics reading :(

well i found out that Z71V has MXM II type slot. So i need to find a nvidia Geforce go video card that has that same mxm type: II . anyone can recommend anything affordable ?

Edit: i was unable to find anything to buy, apparently no one sells them ? . I guess no upgrade for me. :x

Your best bet is notebookforums.com they got a whole section for ASUS laptops, and I'm sure you can find an anwser there.
