I have a new laptop (Sager 9750) thats running well. I have a fresh install of WXP SP2. Everything is fine and happy, all my apps are running fine (MCAD + a few games for those long roadtrips!). All of my work apps are OGL based. I've used it for a couple of months and everything has been fine. Both work OGL apps and DX games running just fine.
Then just the other day, I went to play some WH40K and got an error that "DirectX Device could not be located"
I ran DXDIAG and saw the following screen.
Obviously I haven't shut off Direct X, it's done it itself or some *other* system service has. But here is the worst part. I was running DX9.0C the latest and greatest. I can't unistall Direct X, its not a windows component etc. I can't install a newer version because I had/have the newest version. So it's a Catch 22. I've tried re-installing SP2, etc. to no avail.
I cant do a system restore because Ive got it turned off (dont ask...)
It's not the video card or driver as its the latest and greatest etc.
So am I faced with re-installing the OS?
I've googled on this but to no avail save to read that others have had this problem but not found a resolution (or better yet the casue!)
Thanks in Advance
