You might be lucky and just have a bad PSU...cbltw357 wrote: Thanks! I just checked on those powersources, and I will put an order in shortly. (Unfortunately, I think my motherboard is toast, so I am likely gonna order another one.)
Or would you suggest that I just order the ps, and see if it works with the mobo? (Right now, the powerstandy light comes on for the "new" mobo (as it did for the "old" mobo) although the computer will not power up.

i put in an order for a PSU. I held off on the mobo. So, we will see what happens. I hope that I have this "luck" that you mentioned though. LOL
Should I not be that lucky, my next post will include items I intend to purchase for my next build and I will solicit feedback on what I am thinking about. I hope it does not come to me having to just build another computer!
Best regards,

Greetings:
I scooped up and installed the Antec NeoHE 550W. Although, I have not connected the monitor to know for sure that all is well, I will say that the computer turns on. Fans, lights, etc.

Somehow in the process of getting things together, I left a wire from the PS unattached... well, this wire touched the back of the floppy drive.. i cannot remember where it exactly touched but the HD, but it did. Immediately, I smelled electrical burning and saw smoke after which the computer shut off! To make a long story short, once I realized what happended I removed the drive and the computer started up fine. (But, I think the floppy drive is "dead" now.)
Now, I am wondering if you guys can help me with some other connections that I cannot figure out how to make to the MOBO (ASUS P4S800D-X) from the case. The connections I am trying to make to the board are:
out L/out R
Ret L/Ret R
Mic-VCC
Mic In/GND
I suspect these 7 connections are related to audio features on the front panel, but I am not sure.
So, can anyone tell me where I should be looking on an ASUS P4S800D-X board to place these connectors, because I am truly lost here.
Here's the link to the manual.

Thanks again for ALL the help with one.

Guys,
Thanks for all the suggestions and help with this matter. I got that powersource installed and all seems to be working fine for me now. I have not had any issues since I first powered the computer up and powered it down. So, I assume all is well.
Although, since this power source has been replaced and all seems to working well, I suspect that my ORIGINAL ASUS P4C 800 E Deluxe board is still functional. (So, I may just attempt to put together a computer for my wife so I can put that board to use.) Should I decided to do that, I will almost certainly solicit feedback when and if I encounter problems.
Best regards,

Greetings Sporg:
Thank you for the suggestion. I don't think the power button on the case was/is bad. But, I could be wrong. Since I put this other power supply in here, I have yet to experience any problems. Of course, with my luck, I will turn the computer off and it wont come on again!
But seriously, I think that I had a flaky powersource that bit the dust so to speak.
However, should I have any more problems, I will be the first to seek assistance here.
Thanks again and have a great holiday season.. if you partake in celebrations during this time of year.
