LCD Monitor
LCD Monitor
Hey guys, I havn't really been following monitors and was wondering if anyone here had a suggestion for me.
I want a LCD monitor for gaming, I would prefer being able to sit at the 1600 x 1200 resolution range but its not a necessity.
What monitors out there are good for gaming?

The Dell 2007WFP 20.1" Widescreen is very nice (1680x1050 res)
I have one, moved from a very good 19" CRT. Although no LCD can match a good CRT for image quality, this monitor is very close!
Also widescreen gaming is sweet ;)
There's also the E207WFP 20" widescreen model. You loose that .1" screen space, some input ports (still has DVI) but gain HDCP support........and it's ~100 bucks cheaper

Yes, I recommend the Sceptre too. I've just got one and it's awesome!
AMD Opteron 1224SE "Santa Ana" = DFI Lanparty UT NF590 SLI-M2R/G
Crucial Ballistix 4x1GB DDR2 800 = Corsair CMPSU-750TX
Sapphire 4870 1GB = Sceptre X20WG-Naga 20" = Logitech X-530 5.1
Seagate 320GB (SATA II) x2 = Samsung SH-S203B (SATA)

I'm rocking the sceptre 20.1 wide screen 1000:1 contrast ratio its awesome, not as good image quality as my p95f+ viewsonic 19in" crt but hey it takes up a lot less room and can do 1680x1050 which is good enough for me plus movies are sweet on it. The speakers are a bonus for lanning if you don't have headphones or you don't like taking extra stuff.

I know what your saying about a CRT, but my old 19" CRT is huge and will kill a small child if dropped.
At what point in the refresh rates (I assume lower is better) is there a diminishing return? I have read reviews where a 12ms was great but I see 4 and 2ms refresh rates out there too. I don't need top of the line, just something I wont see ghosting with while gaming.
Oh thanks for the info so far.

Well, anything below 12 should be ok, although personally I'd go with 8 or below. I think all the ones that have recommended have been that.

I would definitely go with anything 8ms or below, especially if you are playing shooters. I'm still using a 16ms 19", but all I play is WoW these days. If I throw on HL2 it really stinks. I wish my old p95f+ hadn't died
I'm waiting for Vanguard, my do an upgrade at that time.
