AMD's 65nm Brisbane Athlon 64 X2 4800+ Processor Arrives

The AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ has been reborn as with Brisbane core and runs $271. The TDP was 89 Watts when it was 90nm, but now at 65nm it's 65W. Here is a picture of the processor I just got in.

The 4800+ is clocked at 2.5GHz w/ 512KB L2 cache-per-core. AMDâ€™s move to 65nm is a process shift (die shrink) only so performance will remain the same, but overclocking might get better.

Are there any architectural differences between Brisbane and Windsor or is it just a die shrink? Also any idea where these are for sale?

they are a die shrink only...

just talked with AMD on the phone and found out something interesting that I have not heard before. AMD did introduce more latency on the memory controller on these new 65nm parts and said that it decreases performance about 2%. I'm sure more will come out on this, but wanted to let you know what came straight from the lips of AMD.
