Which Star Trek?

Post by Sovereign »

I've gotten into Star Trek Voyager lately and want to know what you guys/gals watch. Please no anti-Trek flaming, Star Trek versus Star Wars or anything like that in this thread.

Unfortunately, picking multiple choices is not allowed due to phpBB's polling system...so pick the one that you like the most/watch most frequently/think has the coolest Captain :)

C'mon, Cisco was the coolest. And who doesn't like the Defiant??? My vote goes to DS9.

Hi All,

For me, it has to be Deep Space 9. With all of the political & religious intrigue & such, not to mention Cisco, Dax, Kira & Odo. In addition, the way the series ended offered numerous directions the Writers can pursue for a movie.

I'm an original series guy. I grew up with it and still love'em. I was never a fan of the movies or any of the newer Trek shows. You know, there's just something downright sexy about a scantily dressed green chick... :) (for those that enjoy the old stuff you'll get it)

The mid-second to fifth seasons of The Next Generation were very well written and acted. Many of the episodes are still with me more than a decade later (Inner Light, Tin Man, Drumhead and others that I cannot remember the titles to), even though I have not seen them since they aired.

I liked voyager and DS9 the best (voted voyager).

Does anyone else remember the sub plot thing that was going on with DS9 and Benjamin, with the sci-fi writer back in the american 50's, and the way it played out he was writing Benjamins life on DS9, and he eventually got locked up, and he stopped writing the story and Benjamin stopped what he was doing.

What was up with that and did it ever explain itself?

Dan

When I was a kid, I used to watch the original series. But I think that Next Generation is still the best of them all.

I voted for ST: TNG because that's what I grew up watching. I tried watching some original series episodes, but I guess I just couldn't "get it", as my first exposure was TNG, and the original series just paled to it at the time...

I appreciate that without the original, TNG would not exist, but I will throw my hat in with Picard & Co. :)

Stargate - Prefer SG/1, don't really care for Atlantis as much. Right now the only scifi I'm watching is BSG - I really like what they've done with it for the most part.

I've started to watch the star trek movies... I jsut finished the 3rd one (search for spock). I totally dig them. graphics are cheesey, yet amazing at the same time. It crazy to think that the ships are "real" if that they are small models rather than something created on the computer.

Blame phpBB's developers :)

http://www.memory-alpha.org - More information on Star Trek than one would ever need. It's the "Wikipedia" of Star Trek, but hey since it focuses on one topic and deals with an active fan base it is generally pretty accurate.

*goes back to watching Voyager*

I like Voyager. I think it has the most interesting story lines.

TNG is nice, but I find it a bit dry with Picard constantly following protocol. Too formal for me.
