Thats me, so whats the deal with pc 2700,3200...etc.. What does the numbers mean??? The m/b's Im looking at show 3200 as the highest yet people say they got 3500 on the board.... Derrrr.....

166/333MHz => DDR333 or PC2700 DDR
185/370MHz => DDR370 or PC3000 DDR

217/433MHz => DDR433 or PC3500 DDR

They have standards for memory by the JEDEC organization. This board of members has standards up to PC-3200. Since this is the highest approved standard this is why you see it often.
You can go higher than what is suggested to you. Some people go higher so they can overclock or use their system longer without upgrading. Many users tend to go with PC-3500 with low latencies. Companies such as Corsair, Mushkin, and Kingston all make low latency memory that performs well.

dude, your awesome... scary how much you know... but thanks a bunch... i guess i will go with corsair since they have that fancy platinum-silver thingy to help heat... Im gonna overclock whatever i get... which is waiting on your report on that amd/intel stuff (gonna use asus for any boards tested?)

Going to be using the ASUS SK8N, ABIT IC7-MAX3, ABIT AN7, and the Chaintech ZNF-150. I just got the ASUS SK8V in today. So not using the ASUS canterwood this time around! A bit too late right now because the benchmarks are all completed ;)

thanks for the reply, you seem to have the coolest job in the world. Being as Im in the military I often dont have the time to look into things as much and learn so you make my oppinion lol... Corsair is the ram and like I said before, your report on the processors will make my decision on that.. Thanks a bunch!!!!
Another stupid question.... I'm running Kingston PC4000 in my system. I have it overclocked to 3.6, the memory package says 2.65. I'm currently running it at 2.85. Is that bad? At 2.75 I have to bump nmy vcore up to 1.47-1.5. Right now I am running at 3.5 with 1.44 vcore and 2.75 DDR, I can get it running really smooth at 3.6, but it won't even start windows unless I set the DDR to 2.85, and the the vcore goes from 1.475 to 1.52. Is this acceptable, or am I pushing things too far. My temps with the SP 94 are really solid at 38-41 in a warm house in Las Vegas.

kingston PC-4000 uses either Hynix or Samsung IC's. Hynix IC's can sustain 3.6V, while I'm not sure what the limit on Samsung IC's are I have always run my Samsung Rev C's (what is used on PC-4000) at 2.85V.
I run all benchmarking here @ 2.85Vdimm so no worries with running that voltage I do it 24-7!

Thats was a great article about the memory (Hynix vs Samsung). I have 4 sticks of 256 MB in my system and know at least two of them are Hynix (with my luck the other two are Samsung). I just wanted to make sure I wouldn't burn anything up running it at the max on my board (P4C800-E maxs out at 2.85.
