Apoptosis wrote:Just wanted to let everyone know that the contest is open to everyone now and I'd like to thank XFX for that to happen. There is a catch though. XFX will pay all the shipping bills to get the card to your address. Any duties, taxes, or other fees that your country charges for electronics is something that you will have to pay.
That's great news! One of many good reasons for why I only buy XFX GPU's! Btw, I won't sue if I win - I could sign some kind of contract beforehand or consider this to be just that.

Now to find some threads to help out with.

Ohh, almost forgot! COUNT ME IN!

Cheers!

I'm glad you've opened up the competition to all forum users regardless of location. I don't know if Customs can charge duties on something you've won though. There's no real value attributed to a prize, unless XFX declare a value on it when they send it....

They declare a value on the shipping documents.Though it's not high as the original price. They generally write the half price of the product but it varies from company to company. In India, the custom officials calculate this values written on the paper & there's nearly 25% of the price (which r on the shipping papers) that we need to pay. These also includes some bribes to the officials(everybody in this division are corrupted here) to get the job done in the same day.

So,it's well for us that XFX or other companies don't write any values on the papers & if that's not possible, they should write very negligible values so that we won't have to pay large duties.

I think DHL is the best here. They couriers directly to the customer's premises where other courier companys deliver the package to the customs department(atleast in India).

Yeah...declaring on it as a "SAMPLE" usually "does the trick". It worked for me several times :) , though I'm not sure about the duties guys in India...
