Taiwanese DRAM makers running full production output

Post by Apoptosis »

Looks like memory prices will continue to remain steady at least for the short term.
Several top Taiwanese DRAM makers including Nanya Technology, Powerchip Semiconductor Corp. (PSC), Winbond Electronics, Inotera and ProMOS reported running full production output despite of declining price. The improvements in yield rates in DRAM production and increased output of NAND-type flash memories on DRAM lines have combined to affect DRAM supplies as 300mm foundry came online and running at normal production level. With this, additional 70,000 of DRAM wafers are injected and expecting to reach 80,000 of DRAM wafers by end of this year. The prevailing undersupply coupled with the impact of the coming long vacation in China encourage an optimistic view of spot pricing in the short term. The price downturn for LCD panels has led PC OEMs to increase their budgets for DRAM, and demand from the US and European markets is very healthy. The coming long vacation in China has also led the market to accumulate inventory before the end of September. The prices of memory in 30 days range and recent pricings.
