Post by stopthekilling77 »

taking a break from talking of processors, cases, fans, PSUs, mobos, and cards.

now i'm curious as to how many mix computers with metal?

anyone been listening to some good death/black/grind/thrash/speed/melodic metal lately?

yeah I don't think OP meant bands like that. I don't fancy them either. But I did see In FLames and Killswitch Engage in concert. Probably one of the worst ones I've seen, ( As I Lay Dying was on the bill too )

More into the classics myself. Journey, Zep, CCR, ACDC, Ozzy etc. I even dabble a bit with the big hair bands of the 80s...The Crue, , Poison, White Snake...etc.
XM has a great big hair channel...The Bone Yard.

He's definitely unique. You either love his stuff or can't stand it.

Another unique offering is Ayreon. Some more good stuff.

I'm a fan of the oldies, too (thanks dad). I listen to classic rock, punk rock, indie rock, folk rock....basically anything with rock in the name. Gotta love the Crue and Poison. Jim Croce and Billy Joel are my favorite people to listen to. Period.

Rock on.

i'm stoked that anyone replied! as for me, i'm all over the place with my metal: Lamb of God, The Agony Scene, Extol, Children of Bodom, Vader, Dimmu Borgir, Anorexia Nervosa, Taake, Strapping Young Lad, Silent Civilian, Arch Enemy, Dragonforce, Behemoth, and many many more bands are constantly on my metal playlists!

if you ever get into a new band, send them my way, I'll always give them a listen!

if you haven't already, check out http://www.pandora.com
and start your own "radio" stations! make them as exclusive to genre or as whatever as you want. you can even listen to your Devin Townsend, I'm sure!

hell yes man! behemoth is sick, and Vader, well they've been metal since the year before i was born! don't be thinking i'm sucking up any little bit, i happen to think each country puts out its fair share of crappy metal.

i also prefer death metal, black metal, and neo-classical metal to hair metal any day thank you very much!

i've noticed that sweden puts out amazing hardcore but seems to lack in it's metal scene... odd.

I dunno, i hate labeling what genre i like or not, since even wwithin the genre the sound is very different from band to band. I'm more of a Megadeth guy myself though.

My favorites are Slayer, Metallica, Iron Maiden, and Pantera. Also like some doom/grey/goth metal bands like My Dying Bride, Tristania, and Agalloch. Agalloch is very interesting folk metal.

I'm not a big fan of hardcore death metal like Napalm Death, and Emperor because they are so over the top I find it difficult to take them seriously. I honestly want to laugh sometimes.

I like AC/DC and Ozzy. I never really got into the heavier stuff though.
As long as it's not that bubble gum dance club music crap, I like it :axe:
