need to know some stuff about a core duo e6400

i have just bought a new Intel Coreâ„¢2 Duo Processor E6400 2.13GHz w/ 2MB Cache

is there any software i should get for it? anything to monitor the processors etc. can it play games that need intel 3ghz or amd 2.2 ghz?

in regards to games you going to need the rest of your computer before you can do anything on a core 2 duo lol. Its a nice processor but there is more to game play then your processor. What video card do you have, how much ram, what OS are you running. Just run down the specs of your machine for us.

ok, atm i have a

mobo - Asus P5LD2-VM/C Rev 2.0 w/ DualDDR2, Video, 7.1 Audio, Gigabit Lan, SATA II, PCI-E x16

ram - 1 gig ddr2 pc5300 , will be getting an addition 1 or 2 in the next week.

power - bfg 650w

hdd - western digital ata 160 gb, 2x320gb seagate sata backup's/new.

os - xp home sp2, wont be getting vista for a good half a year.

gpu - currently im just running off the onboard/intel integrated

I have a HiS Radeon X1650pro but its RMA for the next couple of weeks, im planning on buying a e-VGA Nvidia e-geforce 8800 320meg super clocked.

is there any monitoring software i should get to watch the processors?

Anyone know if something is wrong with my fan? i installed the asus utilities probe and it says the rpm/fan is wrong? its giving me a pop up about it

Download MotherBoard Monitor 5 software from the following link.It can check every Temperatures & Fan RPMs on ur PC with conjunction with the Asus ASIC detection chip.You'll be able to monitor every temps ( more than Asus PC Probe tells u ) & fan RPMs of ur mobo.There is also an alerm system which let u know when something goes wrong.If this software also tells u that ur fans r not working like PC Probe is saying then physically check ur fans.

I'd recommend coretemp for monitoring temps.

MBM has been deprecated and has minimal if any support on newer mobos.

PCProde is ok for volts and fans for now but lacks in temp reporting.

PCprobe is reporting the CPU fan speed to be below the threshold it's set for. You must have systemthrottling and mangement turned on in bios. Your CPU temp isn't high enough to warrant increase the cpu fan speed. The default thresholds in pc probe are wonky
