Nautilus 500 Full mod

My plans are to take my Nautilus 500 unit and stuff it into my Cooler master case. While im attempting this ill be upgrading the radiator, and anything else that may need to be changed to make this work. The ultimate goal of this is to make my system quieter, by putting the pump and everything inside the case it should help. If you have any suggestions please post them here, since this is my first attempt i would love as much feedback as possible.

I would live to use the xflow radiator since it is designed for a lower CFM fan, which would allow my system to be quieter, but its appears to be to long, about .05" to long, not much i might be able to squeeze it in there once i get some more accurate measurements.

Why don't you pull out the HD racks and install the rdiator on the bottom front. Overall case airflow will be much better...........

so just move the radiator/fan to the bottom, and put both of my hard drives at the top in the 5.25 bays? hmmm that might be easier too, i could probably drop the xflow in the bottom and get a quieter fan, and leaving the pump/reservoir at the top. hmm well ill see what i can draw up at work today, since i dont do much being an XPS support guy.

ill toss it up later when i get back.

There might be room for everything down in the bottom and that would leave all the 5.25 bay area accessable for drive use. Depending on how many HD's you use, something like IcyDocks multi bay drive racks would be a good solution for mounting your HD's. I use their triple drive rack in one case and a single in another.

sweet thanks, i have never seen those before. Great idea ill pick up the mb453spf one and slap it in there. That just saved me some time there.. i need to do more searching at other sites other than newegg and fry electronics lol. redesign soon to come

thanks for that Icydock bays, i can easily fit everything in to bottom of the case and keep the reservoir at the top. Ill have some pictures up next week once i get all the parts. But ill post some dimensions and other info i found out today while i was measuring everything out.

yeah thats what kinda opend the gate on the idea, im just putting it all in the case and changing out some other parts, the unit is noisy out side of the case, and when its in the case its much quieter. I curently have it in the case and it seems to do better, but im upgrading the radiator and fan to see if that helps more, as well as thinking about adding a new resivour as well.

What part of the N500 is noisy? Is it the pump, the fan or both???

If the fan is noisy, then remove that speaker grill cover and put it a standard fingerguard.

If the pump is noisy, then put a resistor in-line to the pump and strap it to the side of the rad to limit the pump voltage down to 9VDC. Runing the pump at 9~9.2VDC will really keep it quiet.

If you do the mod above with the fingerguard along with the lower voltage to the pump, you will not see a difference in performance lose of the N500. BUT, you will notice that the unit is now quiet.

I'm all for external cooling solutions since it gives more room in the computer case for air circulation, upgrading, and less of a chance for leaks.
