I'm runng a Thermaltake 700watt.
My temps were looking good for a few days too.
E6600 @ 3.5ghz 1.34v idle temps around 25-28 and load 47-52 with orthos.
Then the idle temps were around 38-41 when problems started.

k, thanks for the feedback... I've been holding off on publishing my review and am running the cooler cranked up on HIGH 24/7 since I've heard of your problems.

If nothing happens today/tonight I'll publish it tomorrow as it.

Do either of you guys have pictures of your burnt connections?

Could you guys post pics of the Thermal Control Module. I've seen two different modules. One has a capacitor soldered onto D6 of the controller the other one doesn't.

k,

I just had a LONG chat with the CEO (Geoff Lyon) of CoolIT and he is going to send out new mounting hardware to everyone that is having problems with it. Please send their tech support a request and choose 'Technical Support' on the drop down list. Be sure to include your shipping address and they will be shipped to you direct from CoolIT. I also talked to him about the burnt power cables that are being seen on the TCM and he informed me they have started using a new connector as they have seen some issues like you guys are describing with the old style connectors.

He didn't deny that there was an issue with the thumb screws or the power connector and actually confirmed there have been a couple reports of each.

Diabolus,

Here is a picture of the TCM... Not sure if you can see the capacitor you are looking for on this picture. There is only one capacitor on the PCB and it's obvious where it is at though.

Ok my question is this why are they just sending out new mounting hardware when the mounting hardware is the lesser of the two problems? I mean thats like saying here is a new screw! but it might still catch fire! WTF?

For those that have just a hardware mounting problem, like myself, they can just get new nuts and bolts ;) You on the other had need a whole new unit!

Hopefully, by the time I'm ready to upgrade, they'll have these issues worked out.

not only that but now they arent even returning my calls, and im calling everyday! At this point all I want is my money back, they can have this POS but im NOT paying another 80 dollars to ship it back to them! we paid 199 for a working unit and what we got were non working units and now they are extorting another 80 bucks out of us to return the units. Ive decided if they don't contact me by Monday 03/19/2007 at 5pm im getting in touch with the Better Business Bureau of Alberta.

Selling faulty items and only replacing them for a fee cant be legal

Nate is there anyway you could use your influence to get us some answers regarding the TEC-TCM plug scorching issue? Ive been trying everyday since I got my RMA email last week and no one has returned my calls. This kinda seems like big news.
