G.Skill memory

Memory question...

I have used all different Brands of memory, and currently pretty much use OCZ Gold, which i have never had a problem with.

I see alot in the Forums here (and in Sigs) about G.Skill, Any particular reasons for its popularity? I see it is inexpensive compare to some.

They make quality RAM and they aren't overly expensive.

I've pretty much stuck with Corsair, but I would not be opposed to trying G.skill as their reviews are decent.

From what I've seen, their customer service is good too which goes a long way in my book.

both make good memory it all depends on the chips on the memory if your overclocking

I have G.Skill RAM in my main rig (and may soon have some in my laptop). I haven't had a problem with it.

yep I had a 2GB kit of G.Skill and it was great stuff.......the same model FZ1 is currently using.
Their DDR2 6400 kits are still made with micron IC's.........when most other companies are moving away from the good micron IC's (getting harder to source)

seeing as we're on the subject of g.skill...

i'm planning on buying THIS 2Gb KIT for my new computer, and i was wondering if it'd be smart to buy a second EXACT SAME KIT to make it a 4Gb rig.

for 200 bucks, they seem like an awesome kit. thoughts?

4GB of that would do nice! BUT XP and VISTA 32bit will only see 3GB!
You'll need a 64bit OS to see all the 4GB.
The memory will also run with a command rate of 2T, but that shouldn't matter too much.

I'd save to $200 towards a nice holiday this summer instead though! 4GB is not required yet!

oh and one other thing, what kind of chip do these run off of? i hear talk about micron d9s and how they're the best, how do these stack up in composition?

The command rate is the latency, or delay between the bank selection until the commands are accepted. 2T means the command is latched only on the 2nd cycle.

Changing between 1T and 2T can sometimes give you a performance increase depending on your memory and configuration.

AFAIK they are D9's. Not sure which revision though.
They should do 1GHz

THEY ARE getting better, but like any company they got good quality and bad quality rams, it's all about the chip I think.

well when i have the money to do my build in a few weeks to a month or two, i'll be sure to get the specs up. i'll ask everyone what programs i should run when the time comes, because this machine will far overpower any other computer i've ever been on, save test machines at stores.

making moderately priced, quality ram is all it takes to get noticed. although I've noticed that the buffalo firestix have come down in price I would be tempted to pick up those.
