Downloading drivers

So I'm curious how many of you have problem downloading drivers? Motherboard, Video card, Audio, whatever... anyone sick of how slow some sites are*cough*ASUS*cough*?

I'm trying to download drivers for my on-board audio on the P5B Deluxe and only 1 of their 5 download locations is up. It's downloading at an amazing 4.6k/sec. Sooo...it will get done at around 1am so that means that playing games is out of the question tonight.

yeah, I was trying to get all the drivers downloaded for my new folding machine. It has an Asus P5L-MX and I wasn't able to get the drivers from Asus with any success at all. As you said the mirrors were down, and the 1 that I got to work was horribly slow to the point I was pulling out what little hair I have left.

I have more of a problem with game patches for games that i buy, than drivers. Support for drivers is great so far for me, but game patches....that a whole new ball game.

It's a well known fact that the Asus web site sucks, it has for a long time now, that's one of the reasons I didn't get their new 650i board, I just can't and won't deal with their support, it totally blows. And now I've read on another site that their site is infected by that new virus that's going around, better to just stay away if the can and get your drivers from the different conponent suppliers ..............;)

We've just confirmed multiple reports about asus.com, a very well known hardware manufacturer, being compromised. There's an iframe added which leads to the recent ANI exploit.
The URLs in the exploit variants which we've detected are currently down.

We're trying to get in touch with ASUS. This latest case shows that you can get infected when visiting legitimate sites, so you should always install patches as soon as you can.

I just went through the same thing with my P5B board. The Europe and US mirrors are painfully slow. I found that if you select Japan it's alot quicker ;)

I was REALLY dissatistied with what I went through to get a BIOS update Thursday night for my new rig. Next time I hate to say this ASUS will be last on my list. abit was far superior in driver support. Nothing irks me more than when a vendor doesn't update thier drivers for 6 months when there's known issues (onboard Realtek HD Audio codec anyone).

I have an Asus crosshair MB, but I havent had need to get new drivers yet. Everything seems to work fine.

Hehe..Asus' site does suck. Luckily I haven't needed to get any drivers or anything else lately. It's been that way for awhile though.

A bunch of sites suck... ASUS is slow, AOpen doesn't support the notebooks that they used to carry 2-3 years ago, DFI and ABIT have newer BIOS versions but fail to put them on their public sites... It's pretty sad to be honest...

any idea if that way back machine might be able to help you out in that department? i mean its a long shot but i checked out a few flash sites i liked when i was 13 and they had all the full flash games/vids...

figured i'd bring it up

I always never get drivers from the manufacturers website, I go straight to where I get them from being nVidia.

asus website.. i was trying for days to manage to get to my mobo's downlaod page.. It seems some times (alot) get reaaally busy.. didnt have a problem though these few days i tried (even dl speeds were over 5kb/s) .. But my antivirus bugged me.. twiced actually. Didnt know what happened till i read this (well not exactly, cant find the same article :p)

What drives me crasy is getting older equipment that was pre-XP days and making it work. Some companies no longer support end-of-life drivers for out dated stuff. I tend to poke around the http://www.drivers.com and such web sites. A good google or yahoo search sometimes gets those drives from tucked away places on the net.

Just this past year, a friends P-B machine had a HDD go bad, so, I had to locate the drivers from all kinds of places to make it work right again.
