its a dell inspiron i recently got secondhand from my friend, and i'm planning on throwing Linux Ubuntu 6.10 on it, but i can't partition the drive because it just wont let me.
i'd love to post specific details but i've gotta run out for now, but any ideas anyone? i KNOW i have administrative options set up for my user....

okay so its a PIII Dell Inspiron i got secondhand from my good friends dad, replacing his outdated laptop for his business.
anyhow the deal is when i go to even analyze the disc before defragging, it does NOTHING
i need to do a defrag because i need to partition the drive, because i want to install ubuntu 6.10

- the error i get when i'm in administrative tools and i click on computer management, go under the storage tree, and try to do anything with "disk management"
