Something happened

Post by Bio-Hazard »

I don't know what it was or what caused it, but my internet connection slowed down to nothing. I scanned for spyware, a virus, checked my reg and system for problems. Couldn't find a thing wrong, I even call tech support for my ISP, all systems were OK. So I ended up doing the dirty deed...................format and reinstall....................now my speeds are way up there again, 1196 (down and 38 up Kbps). I just installed everything just the way it had been.............I haven't a clue as to what the deal was.

Did you happen to try to reinstall your network drivers first? :P

Tried that and also the ISP software. Everything worked, just slower than sh!t, download speeds were under 300 Kbps.

How long has it been since you last reformatted your hdd? You running Windows? Windows seems to slow everything down after a few months. It seems it needs a clean slate every 3 or 4 months. I'm running FedoraCore3 now -- I hope it's better!

are you sure it wasn't just a Directway glitch?
When I had satellite, I found their IT guys to cause a many problems as any worm, and tech support (until you got bumped up to level/tier 3 was useless

The HD is a new SATA that was just installed a month or so ago.............. My HD normally get reformatted every 6 months or so just to keep the crap down and things running fast. The computer system it's self was running just fine, all benchs were up to all the old standards, just my internat speed was trashed. Anyway, all is good now, I got just about everything reinstalled and such. Thank god for back-ups and external HD archives............. 8)
