7900GTO or X1950XT

Post by Nandro »

If you had a choice between these two cards which one would you choose? I know this is the Nv section so it may be biased. Whichever one you do chose, what do you think the monetary difference is between them. Such as - you would take the 7900GTO, but the X1950XT+$40. Reason is I have an offer on the table for this and want to get people's opinion. Would it be double posting if I asked in ATI section as well? Personally I think there should be a General video section for questions about both or generalized video.

It's not a matter of price as I have 0 money. Its just a trade. I can either keep my 7900GTO or trade for the ATI card and $35-40. I pretty much have just decided to stay with my NV card as it has never given me a problem, clocks great and $35 isn't enough to warrant a change even though right now any money would help.

I'd keep your current card and start saving for a DX10 card... with the HD X2900 XT and HD X2600 XT coming in the months ahead the DX10 battle should finally start.

Good and bad on that front. We just found out we're having a baby, and that didn't go well with my wife getting laid off from work and my dissability not going thru yet. I'm pretty much going to be on this rig for quite some time unless a miricle happens. I have a 6 figure job lined up, but it would require lots of traveling and long periods away from home. I need to wait a while and see how things go. When my wife was a child she was in a bad accident and lost a kidney and her spleed along with other internal injuries, We didn't think we could have kids so this is a minor miracle. I just don't know if its going to involve her being confined to bed during the later parts of the pregnancy so the job will have to wait. In the mean time I will tweak this sucker to get every bit of performance out of it that I can. And who knows, maybe I'll win some contests or find some stuff here I can sell. I agree about the card though. It's not worth it. If it was my card and $100 I would do it as the performance hit wouldnt be that much.
