me and my friend want to direct connect our computers so we can share the screen and etc... can we do this ?

Like remote desktop connection stuff?

I presume you're not meaning both PC's using the same screen.

VNC does just this!!

Unlike RDP, this will allow you to see the mouse and everything that is happening live from the remote computer. Windows XP locks the computer.

another option you can try/check out is logmein.com it is internet based but has a free version. it works great and easy setup

You could also check out Hamachi, it's a simliar proggie to VNC. I also heard that RealVNC is quite good too.
