What is up with the Spambots?

There seem to be an inordinate number of these showing up here and on other sites I frequent recently... It's starting to look like a web-wide epidemic.

We just ban and delete the suckers. Without them, I wouldn't feel important and be able to use my powers

As the site gets even more popular, the amount of idiots increase too. Spamming is cause for an automatic ban! No exceptions!

Well, it's good to have powers, I wish I had some sometimes... (not specifically here, more like the power to make certain lottery balls drop...) But even in my couple of months of lurking I never saw this many spamtastic posts, as I said - here, and on a couple of other sites where I've been a member for much longer... Just suddenly seems to be a bigger problem than before. On one of the other sites it's happening via PM as well as in the fora.

I have a habit of checking the part at the bottom of the forum home, that lists the newest user. I check t here profile to make sure they are legit. Spammers have a typical MO, that screams spammer. I try to delete them before they post. But we can't always be online. With school winding down I have less and less time to be on the forums. Hell this week I was at school or work at 9am and wasn't home till 9pm. But if you guys see spammers or think you see someone that is suspicious, PM us. We'd be happy to look into it for you.
