IP Address Monitoring

Im responsible for a couple of small networks at work and im suspecting that one of our employees is using Bit Torrent on a company computer, is there anyway to monitor the bandwidth usage of a particular IP Address?

I thought most company's used a Centrion Guard type of system to moniter company computers...I did get warned once about using a BitTorrent at school, which I have never done; come to find out, I had a prefetch program enabled and that shot my bandwidth usage though the roof.

well we are a very small company there are only 5 computers total so advanced security is'nt exactly an option lol.

wait till he/she goes to lunch and look on the PC, if its there, remove it. they'll get the hint.

I've had to do it to a couple machines that had that were running AIM, WebShots and WeatherBUG. After the 2nd time I dropped their permissions level and locked their background to neon green they finally got the hint... as suttle as it was.

Some folks tend to forget that its not their PC and internet, its not, its the companies.

well the thing is that its a laptop and he takes it with him.

Not only that but he is a psychologist and psychologists have the most fragile ego's of anyone ive ever met. I need proof before I confront him on it or else his tremendous sense of entitlement might kick in and then he will complain to my boss about some random shite.

Seriously for those that dont know Psychologists are some of the craziest people in the world.

You can also run a port scanner on his IP if he doesnt have a firewall turned on. I have a couple, but they are abundantly free on the nets.

Also you could right click "my computer" , select "manage" right click "computer management, select "connect to another computer" and check out his services or event logs
