Hi All,

As an American who happens to be black nothing would please me more than "may the best man win" Despite what some of you may think there are many Americans who are black believe that the time for affirmative action has passed. I personally don't want any type of handout. Period. I want to be judged & evaluated on my own merit. I was raised that way by my Parents. In addition, when I was in the Military there was no special treatment or favor because of ones ethnicity. What folk have to remember is that we are all of one race, the Human race.

This has been an excellent thread thusfar, with many valid points and people generally feeling the very same way. It's a shame that it may never go any further than the LR forums, but nonetheless it's good to know that you're not alone.

People tend to forget that violence is human nature. can you teach a dog to stop licking its own testicles? yes, but he still really wants to do it.

You could teach humans to stop being violent against each other. It would be very hard, but anything is possible when it comes to habits. The only problem is, the urge for violence will still be present in some of those people.

US law is kind of an example. We get punished if we murder. Everyone knows it, and most people don't murder because they don't want to go to prison. I've never murdered, but I have been really mad before to the point that, if there were no laws against taking a human life, that option may have crossed my mind.

I doubt anyone of us can say "the thought of murder has never crossed my mind"

Jtm55, i applaud you. there are so many people out there, of any color, who want handouts. its hard to bring up points like this without people screaming "RACIST" at people like me who happen to be "white" which i don't like to hear seeing how i'm irish/welsh/german/english. i'm american. period.

and Illuminati, that's what i thought he meant, but you never know if i digested it wrong. the fact of the matter is that noone wants to bend. i think as a "white" guy i've been dumped on just as much as the next color guy, and it just pains me that there are so many contradictions our culture. it'd make my year if the same people who went after Imus would spend as much energy the next time someone uses ANY variation of the N word in ANY form of media, even if the bomb dropper was African American, "black" however you want to put it.
