Does anyone know of any free fax software that can send faxes over a conventional modem?

I now have a dedicated fax line / machine, but back in the day, I simply used the fax program that comes within windows. It worked for me using my modem. I had no problem sending and receiving, except for the occasional formatting issue.

a loooong time ago i used the programs that came with the modems, winfax pro was a good one too. if you can dig up an old modem disk somewhere something should be on it. Or someplace that has old software like a re sale shop or swapmeet? another possibility might be a shareware site.
