New case suggestion

Post by Alathald »

I've been thinking about buying a new case. I don't need one persay, but I'm not a big fan of the one I have now. I've done a lot of looking and can't find to much in the style I'm looking for. I would like something like Alienwares style, just without a door. Anyone know of a case like this?

I've got a feeling I'll have to buy a case like this Raidmax and mod the door so it is part of the case and stealth the drives but I figured I'd ask before making that leap...if I can't find anything by the end of this quarter, I'll probably go that route. Besides, case mods are more...ummm whats the word I'm looking for...rewarding :P

Before you ask, I don't know why I don't like doors on my case, I just don't for some reason...

good thing you like to mod... this guy obviously isn't happy with the case you're looking at:

"WHAT! THE FRONT DOOR WONT LATCH!!!

Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: This is the second case I buy. AWESOME design. Tinted windows.
Cons: But what the heck! the holes on the first one i bought didnt line up with the MoBo and one wasnt threaded right. After some mod got to work but had to leave some screws out cuz it didnt line up. BUT THIS IS THE SECOND ONE I BUY!!! AND THE FRONT DOOR ON THIS ONE WONT LATCH!!!
Other Thoughts: 2 WORDS RAIDMAX QUALITY CONTROL. PAY THE GUY AT THE END OF THE CONVEYOR BELT MORE MONEY OR TAKE THE BEER AWAY. "

lol nice review huh? if i have you pegged correctly, you'd be buying it TO mod it anyhow right? sorry for the random post with no real input but that comment was priceless

Actually, that review is one reason I'm really liking that case, he said he modded it, so he obviously got intimate with the case, yet didn't complain about the build quality so I'm betting it will be rather easy to mod, actually there are many reviews implying that it is a great case, solid and perfect for the modder. Besides, I can take all the time I need to get everything right cause I already have a sufficent case (a Raidmax Katana) which I do like, it's just a hassle to use it if it's not on the floor (which mine's not). Don't worry, that case will be getting a rather extensive mod right after I finish the new case I'll be getting. Plenty of pics with both, I promise.

Still, I don't have the money right now so if anyone has suggestions for good cases to mod that have that 'Alienware' look to it, I'd appreciate hearing it as it's hard to find a case with that look...

BTW I disagree with the reviewer, you should give the guy at the end of the conveyor belt a raise AND more beer :drinkers:

Ordered this for a build..

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6811129021

Biggest fan I ever saw on top of it :) 200mm!

REALLY seems like a nice case, and you can get the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6817159058 power supply together for $239.98! 700w CoolMax PS seemed good to me.
