if i sli'ed 8600's gts that would b able to handle like call of jaurez and lost planet right?

I'll be honest with you... You need to invest in a good monitor first and then pick your video card for what resolution and games you'll be playing. Once you figure out what resolution you are gaming at you'll be able to buy the right card for your needs.

1280x1024 css but i wanna be able to play game like lost planet and supreme commandr w/o being held back by my video card. high to med.

You'll be better off with a single 8800 card.
