Look interesting, includes a 120GB hard drive, and old school black finish.

meh, I say. I don't see the point to have to spend all that money. Sure, you get a larger hard drive and a HDMI port, but I don't really need that much storage on my 360 and I'm getting great HD-ness out of the component cables I'm using.

The 360 Elite price point is close to the PS3, but it does not include a next-gen dvd drive (HD-DVD or Blu-Ray)... the PS3 offers Blu-Ray for just a little more $. And the bigger HD does not justify such a large price point. The PS3 price point was most likely an influence on the Elite price point...
As this is aimed at the more hardcore gamer, hopefully M$ will offer some sort of "trade-in" or "upgrade" program for those current 360 owners interested in purchasing the 360 Elite model... probably not, but one can hope.

"Who' doing what now?"
My guess is MS doesn't want to put a next gen dvd drive in their machine, because:
A) they've commited to never using it for games and thus would only be there for movie playback
B) if which ever format they put in was not the format war winner, they would be stuck with a worthless drive that was extra expensive to boot
If Blu Ray loses the format war, it will be interesting to see what happens with Sony.

Anyone who wants a bigger HD in their 360 should just mod it themselves and swap out the included HD with their desired storage capacity. It can't be much harder than swapping HD's in a computer, could it?
And the retail price for the optional larger 360 HD is a HUGE ripoff... US$180 I think?

well yeah if you have the space your going to use it in a modded 360 for sure.. my modded xbox i put in a 200gb hard drive and it was full of games a day after i put it in.. i am just talking about regular old xbox 360 users who only need to download game content and crap. 60gb is plenty. unless you are using it as a media center. then of course its a worthless amount.
