Soundcard or onboard sound?

Post by Patrick97 »

Hi,
I am considering getting one of the computers from:
http://www.komplett.ie/k/cl.aspx?bn=10627
Also I may get the speakers from:
http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=307397

The question I have is ~ would I require a sound card or would the on board sound suffice for these speakers?
Thank you.

Are you big into gaming or music? For the average user onboard sound is generally all you will need... I would suggest trying onboard sound first and if you don't like it you can always spend the extra money and install a dedicated sound card later. Since they are easy to install and are generally plug-in-play I wouldn't worry about installation on your own later.

If you're big on sound, and really want the best quality, get a sound card, but onboard sound is good nowadays.

It doesn't matter with those speakers, other than fancy effects with soundcards, you won't notice a difference.

a sound card is just a waste of money if your onboard works good, all the PCs i have are onboard, except that one that was made before onboard came out, but that is like 15 yrs old, only get a card if you have to
