Post by maj0r_pawnage »

ive recently ordered a 8800GTS, and im wondering, what would be the best AIR cooling i could get for it, or is the stock cooling good enough for serious OCing?

I am not aware of an aftermarket fansink that does a better job then the factory one. Anyone seen or heard of such a cooler?

are you going to silence or high performance cooling?

If high performance then get a high RPM fan with the Thermalright. Also MAKE SURE YOU GET THE "PLUS" VERSION! The normal one cant take the heat from an 8800. If your going for silence id go with a Noctua fan over the Zalman.

Also the Thermalright cooler comes with ramsinks.

Well if you want ultra OC capability then this is the fan for you

It even has a disclaimer saying the blades will cause bodily harm. :)

well you did say "maxed oc while on air" lol

Try the Silent Eagle 1500 then

It's quieter then a mouse fart. (probably smells better too)

well, decibels are an exponetial measure of loudness relative to the threshold of hearing...um, yeah what's that mean?

well the threshold of hearing (amplitude of sound that is just perceptible aka TOH) is 0dB or TOH*10^0=TOH*1

10dB is TOH*10^1.0=TOH*10
60dB is TOH*10^6.0=TOH*1,000,000

For a rough idea, here's a list

So, it's liveable, but I won't want it in my ear while sleeping :drinkers:
