What Motherboard Should I Choose for this setup?

Post by FormatC »

So I'm thinking about building a new computer (To replace an aging socket 939 DDR computer). I just don't know what motherboard to choose (I want at least 4 SATA ports 1 IDE Port 4 ram slots 2 PCI Slots <$165)
Intel C2D E6300
I Don't have this yet I have all of the other parts listed below though
I also don't know what ram to choose as that probably depends on the MB as I know Intel boards can be picky with the ram I also want 2 GB of Ram and I want it to be cheap but also work with the motherboard

3DFuzion Nvidia 7600GS PCI Express
CD-R/RW LITEON SOHR-5238S 52X Write X 32X Rewrite X 52 X Read
Hard Drive Seagate 7200.9 160GB SATA II
Mitsumi 1.44MB 3.5"
DVD Burner NEC ND-3550A
Logitech Z-560
Keyboard Microsoft Digital Media Pro
Mouse Logitech MX518
Case Antec Plus View II with an Antec True Power II 430 Watt Power Supply
OS Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP2 [/url]
Computers are a lot like air conditioners - they both work great until you open up windows.

I have built over a dozen E6600 systems with the P5B-E board without a hitch, just buying the P5B-E SLI boards now. Real happy with them

Gigabyte 890XA-UD3

Aside from the website sucking to download new drivers from, I've been very happy with both my Asus boards. I would probably stick with them in future builds as well.

Yeah the E is a good board but the mem voltage is lacking, so as an overclocker your limited to ram under 2.1. So if you do decide on that board try to get at least PC2-6400
