I went Dremel Crazy tonight and decided to cut my mesh for the front panel!
Look at the sparks fly!
Ah and the final fit! Its nice and snug, im going to paint it chrome what do yall think?
Also I tested Vinyl Dye with a Clear Coat after it dried I used 700 grit sandpaper followed by 1500 grit and then I rubbed in a rubbing compound, all in all it looks great after about an hour of sanding/rubbing, heres a pic:
thanks! now if someone with admin privileges could either move it to modding or tell me how to I would be most appreciative and sorry! I didnt mean for this thread to turn into my modding thread it just kinda happened that way!
My new blowhole fans came in today! heres a pic of one of them:
for comparison I have an 80mm on the far left followed by a 120mm then one of the gargantuan 250mm fans I got online!
They are whisper quiet and move quite a bit of air!
I've had a few cases with those 250 installed in them, they work great and are extremely quiet. Only proble I've had with them is that they sometimes get in the way of some of the larger HSF's, but that's depends on how deep the case is as well.
Shocking! Do you know how much that IBM AS400 server case was worth new?!? More than I would make in a year of employment! Things have changed since 1992. The AS400 was the last of the mainframe interface and the first we worked with for hosting 386 machines into. The HDD's in the rack were amazingly loud too! Our company went with the model B50 back then.
Nice work on the mods. You do have a one of a kind!
Yeah AS400 and cheap should never be used in the same sentence. I just threw a AS400 model 9406 away, it was as big a a fridge and weighed around 900 lbs. here is its newer version, much more horse power considerably smaller. yes I know the front is dirty, since I started cleaning I have to clean the vents every other day or so.
