Anyone else not able to reach the forums? Are you greeted with a database error?

Re: Official Folding Forums
delete your cookies. I saw a thread yesterday saying they are having forum troubles and that you can't log in right now. you can browse right now, but can't log in... so if you delete your cookies (or just the one for the folding forums), you should be able to browse them fine until they get it fixed... unless you have figured it out by now.dicecca112 wrote:is this down again for you guys? Re: Official Folding Forums
here's the post I'm referring to... it is on the index page of the folding forums: http://forum.folding-community.org/
It appears that the database driving the forum software is having a few problems with its tracking of sessions.
If you are currently browsing as a guest, be that as a new user, or a registered one, do not try and login at present.
If you do try and login you will most likely be presented by a blank page, and any subsequent visits to pages on this forum will cause the same thing to happen.
If this happens to you, you need to delete the session_id cookie for forum.folding-community.org, the name of the cookie is phpbb2fah_sid, then restart your browser to make sure.
As long as you remain as a guest user, you will still be able to browse the forums, and you can track the progress of this problem in this thread: http://forum.folding-community.org/view ... hp?t=20820
Users who have set their profile to "Remember me" should not be affected by this problem and can post as normal.
It might be useful if members who can see this post, repost it in their home forums, just to let people know whats going on.

Re: Official Folding Forums
yeah I saw that. I could get there for a while, but when I try to even look at the forums, I get the white screen. Ahh whatever they'll fix it.

Re: Official Folding Forums
looks like they are having trouble all around, on the 7th i had no updates showing on the WU's then at 3pm a massive update, others were showing the same thing.

Re: Official Folding Forums
Recent message, for those like myself that can't get onPosted: Today at 3:09 am
Hi all,
I can fully understand the problems that keep coming back and the related frustrations. Due to loads of personal problems I have not been able to get involved to an extent I feel good about, and things have got worse again recently.
I am looking into different forum software, and will discuss how to get the site back in the shape it should be to support this important project.
phpBB is not a bad forum, but there were features missing, security was not good enough, and as such the 'plus' version was installed. It seems that in itself is now causing further challenges.
I am able to log in without any problems, but new users have problems and there are many that are not able to get in so I am told.
The dbase was fully checked and no problems were found.
I am in the process of testing a few things out to try to repeat the problem on a copy of the database, and see if it can be sorted out quickly.
An upgrade is likely to happen soon. The session table appears to be related to the problems we are seeing, it is massive, and some suggestions have been made to try to fix that which I will try out on a copy first, as just emptying a table out is risky, I do not want to end up blocking out more users. Will try to get this done asap, but I'm still dealing with a divorce, financial situation, car crash, and being abroad at a client site during the week, so progress is not immediate. I have however made progress in the past few hours, and will continue to do so over the remainder of the weekend.
Thanks,
WW

Re: Official Folding Forums
My current WU is a big one and looks like a week worth of work. Therefore, this recent downtime of getting or uploading WU's hasn't been an issue on my machine. It seems that the timing has been good somehow to me.
