BF 2 overheating issues

Post by kappage »

When i play Battlefield 2 i get about 1 maybe 2 rounds before the game goes physco, all the models textures and stuff goes Crazy but while looking at my temps they are all within Thresholds for the motherboard and the gpu never goes above 50oC

How can i stop this??

I will post some pics later next time i play it

First Question I'd ask is: Is your graphics card overlcocked? if so that could be doing it.
Is there a bad fan on the card or a passive cooler in a poor circulated environment?
Is there a newer driver?
Run Memtest on your system as a whole or do you have a way of showing it is definatly a graphics problem?
BF2 is known for its love of ram to run well. 1gb is bad performance 2gb = playable in most cases for older computers. (older than core2)
Lets get some more info so we can sort through this.

my specs are
6600GT PCIE 256mb
Pentium D 805
2 GB ddr 2 800mhz
Asus star ice cooler on CPU
North Pole 1000 on gpu

No my graphics card isnt clocked but its core and memory is @ 500/1000

i get an average of about 55-60 fps in bf 2

Ill boot the game now and get pics of the lot.

Ok, i have just recently got new drivers, from http://www.nvidia.com and no difference to my game. When it does happen all the temps are well within threshold, its really starting to piss me off.

Any ideas?

Done the system wide stablity checks? like memtest, ORTHOS etc.

Does this occur in any other things? Try ATI Tool's artifact scanner and see if that finds anything.

What's your PSU like?

Update direct x (reinstall it if need be).

Then reinstall the game.

What are you measuring your temps with? It could be that whatever program you are using is not giving you an accurate read out of the temperatures you are getting in your case... if possible i would try running it with the case open to see if you still have the same problem... if you do its quite probably either faulty hardware or something with the software is causing a problem.. either way its a good idea to rule out things one at a time to find out what the problem is..

My friend was having a hard time with models getting all messed up, and it was due to a heat problem. He took the side of his case off and set a big fan to blow on the processor and it took care of everything.

Try that out, and run the game for a bit, and see if it gives you the same problem

i had some problem similar to that with BF2.. i took off my case door and had a personal fan blowing in the case... no more lag or problems.
