PLEASANT PRAIRIE, WI, July 11, 2007-- Honeywell (NYSE: HON) today announced it has expanded its A/V cabling and accessories line to include a dynamic, self-monitoring restorer that helps to prevent incoming signal loss on HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) cables running up to 100 feet between an HDMI-capable source, such as a digital-cable set-top box, DTV tuner, or HD-DVD®/Blu-ray Disc® player, and a home theater display.
"When an HDMI cable runs beyond 30 feet the signal begins to lose integrity, resulting in image distortion, sparklies (pixel dropout), and eventually no picture display at all," explained David Coleman, Program Manager-CE Cable Products at Honeywell. "Our new restorer analyzes the signal to restore pixels to their original HDMI specification, including 1080p. It is a far superior option for the installer than using a HDMI repeater/extender that only serves to boost a poor HDMI signal before transmitting it down a long cable run to the display."
Simple to set-up and operate, the Honeywell restorer works on HDTV 480p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p, analyzing these digital signals for the amount of loss and applying equalization-contouring to restore the signal to HDMI specifications and ensure distortion-free, crystal-clear video on the intended display.
Two other helpful tools this restorer provides for the installer are a line driver and HDMI diagnostics. The line driver eliminates most video and audio artifacts that originate from incompatibility issues with the I2C lines. The HDMI diagnostics system is comprised of four LEDs that monitor the most critical elements of signal transmission: the Hot Plug Detect, 5 Volt Line, EDID and HDCP. Monitoring the LEDs will immediately tell the installer that HDMI transmission has failed plus indicate whether the problem is upstream or downstream, drastically reducing the amount of time needed to troubleshoot the system.
Designed to be either wall or table mounted near the display, the compact restorer direct couples from input to output to offer maximum video bandwidth and seamless compatibility with VGA, SVGA, XGA, SXGA and UXGA resolutions.
