well..
well..
Im finally here, not bad at all. Really nice living quarters, bathrooms/showers and the food is great. Its somewhat cool weather but its sunny so no complaints. Right now we are in temporary living quarters so no word yet on getting internet for ourselves in the rooms. We should start actual work tomorrow so Im not sure how much time I will have to research my new gaming pc. Maybe you guys can give me a hand. Anyhow, I will on every few days here at the mwr internet cafe
Well, just wanted to stop by... Have fun..

baby wipes? Really? I guess that makes sense, just never really thought about it. My other friend wanted breakfast foods, like poptarts, cereal bars, etc. I also sent him one of those 6-in-1 travel games, too.
Also, Grunt, do you have a girl back home? That's crucial as to whether or not you'll be receiving porn from me...(NOTE: I said FROM me and not OF me...)

LMAO........ Oh man.
Baby wipes are so multipurpose, besides the obvious usage, they are great for removing camo or cleaning up the best you can without a shower, something that is going to be important now that Spring/Summer will be rolling around.
Power Bars, PopTarts, Gatorade, etc are also very popular as the typical slop will get old after awhile (oh yeah, powdered eggs and grits)
As to the porn comment, that kinda confused me....uh, looking isn't cheating.... especially when its a magazine or video, and its not like he is going to be going out on dates or anything.

I know that, but not all girls do. I would just as soon not meddle with that kind of thing. If he has a girl, then I am going to do my best not to upset her in any way, including encouraging him to look at porn. I'm not saying that it's wrong for him to, but some girls just don't like that.capper5016 wrote: As to the porn comment, that kinda confused me....uh, looking isn't cheating.... especially when its a magazine or video, and its not like he is going to be going out on dates or anything.

Thats awesome for a female to think of sending a guy some porn. Everyone here has plenty of it, besides my wife is going to be here with me.. As for snacks and all that you guys wouldnt believe me if I told you about the chow hall here as well as anything else. So other then advice I dont need anything, it does make me feel pretty good seeing all the support. We (modern day soldiers) got it way better then anyone thinks. The Vets of previous wars really do deserve more credit then they could ever recieve. Knowing how my dad had it in the 1st gulf war makes me cringe, now I have ac/heat in my trailor (no tent). Afghanistan was more rough then this place. Anyhow. Thanks for the offers guys, means a lot. Anyhow, I'll be randomly back on to post and as soon as I can get an address I will get some last minute advice on the current specs of the system I want. Hopefully I can get in touch with whoever and get my own internet so that I can begin folding again.
As for now.. What do you guys think..

I would skip on the msi neo4 and go for the DFI UltraD, its looking more and more like you can turn it into a full SLI mobo with a simple modification, I would also go with the 6800GT as its got the same number of pixel pipelines as the ultra for $100 less and its still SLI capable, as for the power supply i would use the OCZ Power Stream 520w its in the same price range as the Neopower 480, and i think a safer buy.grunt wrote: a64 3200+ (90nm)

As for Iraq stay safe, and if the country falls into civil war, we will blame you not the administration

"Don't open that! It's an alien planet! Is there air? You don't know!"
Actually that NEO Plt 4 board from MSI is awesome, also has built in creative Sound.
The DFI boards are about the best you'll find. DFI has made huge leaps and bounds over the past 2 yrs and you really can't go wrong with their products.
I do like the OCZ PSU, but man is it loud and bright. I actiually prefer the NEOPower 480, active PFC, quiet, modular......

Probably going to go with a winchester, 3200+ but what ram do you guys think I should go with? I really like the looks of the ballistix, 1gig? Anyway, thx for the heads up on the mobo as well as the psu. You guys rock.
