I'm sorry for not replying sooner, i've been pretty busy with all sorts of things lately. In any case, i haven't done any router tweaking myself but i placed a call to Verizon FIOS tech support and asked them to check my settings, after that i asked the guy to set the optimal settings for this router which he did. As a result i've seen some improvement in download speeds for both systems connected to the router.
One other thing i have learned is that the reason i'm not getting 10 MB/s download times is because all of the websites limit their download speeds. For example, Microsoft limits their downloads to 2 MB/s, Yahoo - 1 MB/s, many other websites support only below 1 MB/s. In essence, the only benefit of having the 10 MB/s service is the ability to do similtaneous multiple downloads at the website's top allowed download speed. For example, i want to download 5 files from Microsoft (they allow only up to 2 MB/S), i can download all 5 simultaneosly at 2 MB/s, if its more than 5 files than the download speeds will be lower. If one has 20MB/S service then one can do 10 files at 2 Mb/S at the same time and so. I was able to confirm this though i was getting a little less than 2 MB/s for each of the 5 files, perhaps because their servers were overwhelmed with many download requests. Anyway, this is what i was told by the Verizon tech support guy, i thought i'd share it with everyone else, it makes perfect sense to me.

Barfly, what you say is true...in most cases, but there are alot of sites out there that can supply more than ~2mb download and the amount of them is growing!
