I have one (19" HW191D) and for the price I'm very impressed with it.

Umm, the one I suggested is 21.6"... that's just 0.4" of difference, you probably won't even notice it. You still get the real estate you want and you get a better panel. 8)

i'll read up on it at some point today, as soon as i figure out what fans i'm ordering to max out the case: 2 for the front of the tower, and one for the Ultra-120 Extreme.

i was looking at the Antec Tri-Cools: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.a ... 6835209011

but also saw some Thermaltakes that would save me a few dollars: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6811999145

hrm... i'm just nitpicking now, but you know how it goes

For cooling parts I suggest you checkout PetrasTechShop.com and Jab-Tech.com. They both have a great selection, are trustworthy stores and prices better than the egg.

If you're gonna spend $13 on a fan you might as well get the Scythe S=Flex fans, available at both Jab-Tech.com and PetrasTechShop for $13.95 and $13.99 respectively. Those fans would cost you $20 at the egg. These fans are awesome. Unlike a lot of other fans that publish some bs specs, these can really push a lot of air silently.

You might be thinking, well yeah but the extra shipping cost will make up for the difference I save. But no, cuz you can also order the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extrme from those stores and save enough cash to make up for the shipping cost.

Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme - $54.99 @ PetrasTechShop.com and $56.95 @ Jab-Tech.com

Either way, check out their Fan selection, they have some good stuff at very good prices.

PS. If you what you want is inexpensive fans, I suggest you checkout the Yate Loon line.

Erm, you can only fit one extra 120mm in the front of the P180. If you were trying to put another fan in the front of the HD/PSU chamber then it needs to be a 80mm or 92mm so as it can fit inside the air-guide thing (even removing the air-guide you still need a smaller fan) and you will have to attach it with cable ties or something.

wtf... i bought the P-180 because i wanted all that air movement....... grr....

anyhow that samsung 21.6 inch monitor is pretty slick, but that chimei is cheaper, and pretty much the same feature set.....

the Hanns G is good all around, the chemei is the cheapest one but has a lower resolution, and the samsung seems to be a great choice too...

Remember that just because it has the same specs (or similar) it doesn't mean it'll perform or look the same.

yeah, i understand, but i'm coming from an old, worn-out POS 19" CRT monitor/pc combo, so in all fairness, any of these monitors would be such an unbelievably huge upgrade that this is really a hard decision to make.

the hanns G was recommended by another guy on the forums, Alathald

the chemei is cheeeeeeeap and has good specs

and that samsung seems great, but theres that stigma of "well it IS .4 inch smaller" hahaha, just kidding its massive

see why this is a tough decision? i'm totally sucked into it too, :toimonster: theres no escaping it. i'll be boggled until i have my paycheck cashed tomorrow, and i make my purchase...

Even if you're coming from an old 19" CRT doesn't mean you don't have to get the best you can. The first time I switched from CRT I also came from a 19" NEC CRT (which IMO was far from being a POS. It rocked for gaming) and even so I didn't go with the cheapest LCD that had decent specs. I did my research and started learning all I could about LCDs, their panels, manufacturers, pros, cons, etc. I still wanted to make sure that I would make a good investment. Afterwards, I kept learning, and when I could afford it I got an even better one.

If you're a gamer coming from a CRT, you want to get a good LCD monitor, because gaming is where the difference is usually noticed the most. CRTs are superb for gaming because their lack of blurriness, ghosting, after-glow, etc. LCDs have come a long way and ghosting is almost a non-issue, however, blurring during motion still is and it might be something that can bother you at first (you'll usually notice it when 3D stuff is side scrolling in your screen, like if you're in a moving car and look out the window for example). Hell even after all this time it still bothers me a little.

So, don't settle, get the best you can with what you have. Skimp in the right places so you can afford better products in other places where it'll cause more impact.

No, not that Samsung, sorry. I have heard of people that have it (in other forums, NOT newegg) and they say they love it. It's a good bang for the buck monitor.

You shouldn't base your purchases on how many reviews it has in newegg. A LOT of people will buy something just because it's cheap and specs look decent. As it is with that Hanns monitor. Too much people that don't really have much knowledge about the product. It's not a bad idea to read the reviews at newegg, but you also need to know about the product so you know if people know what they are talking about. Some people do make insightful reviews at the egg, but a lot of them are just noobs excited (or pissed off) about their new toy.

But, it's your cash, it's your decision. Samsung vs. Hanns, what a tough decision.

hahaha like i said though, one of the guys from the forums here, Alathald, bought that model HannsG and loved it, but i'm actually going to go with the Samsung due to it being a sharper image, and i think it'll look reaaaaaaally nice next to my P-180B

at any rate, i'm ordering my components TODAY!!! in about 5 hours actually, when i deposit my paycheck!

IMHO you can't normally go wrong with a Samsung dispaly............ I've got the older 205BW and it's been extremely good to me over the past year or so. I had a cheaper no-name before I got the Samsung and the Samsung is hands down much much better when you compare the 2 side by side. When I got the first I thought the picture was great until I got the Samsung............You'd be better off tring to find both of what you're looking for in a retail out let and comparing them side by side before you buy.............

I would say the viewsonic, although i don't know about that particular model. I have purchased and installed about 50 of these, and find them to be superior to anything else i have tried in the same price range (includes Sony and Samsung) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6824116060
cost a little more but worth it IMO

sort of a trial run kind of thing, because i know if i dont like it, i'll sell it for a little less to one of my brothers :D

but it seems like a good monitor, any of the ones i was looking at seriously would have worked, but i'm giving this one a shot...
i'm confident this was a good pick, but if there's anything weird with it i'll just go from there :dunno:

If he were to spend $300 on a monitor, IMO he might as well go with the SAMSUNG 226BW. That's pretty much one of the best 22" monitors you can get.
