In your opinions...

Post by stinsonk »

OK guys, what would you rather have in a sound card, Dolby Digital Live or EAX 5.0?

The two card I have in mind are the Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-FI Xtreme Gamer 24BIT Sound Card http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=23249 which has EAX 5.0 support but no dolby live

or

AuzenTech HDA X-PLOSION http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php? ... =AuzenTech which has dolby digital live (allows you to connect to any dolby digital speakers...like a home theater system :P) and is 32 bit, but has no EAX support...

So I can't really choose. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. What would you pick of the two, EAX or Dolby live?

I am looking more to the EAX then dolby, but still the idea of using my home theater system (good, high quality 5.1 system compared to my 20 dollar 2.1 system) seems nice...mayby in Creative's next card they'll incorporate that technology as well as latest EAX.

Wonder what that would cost :P

I know this card isn't as nice as the AuzenTech but it gets the job done. I have it in my HTPC box and outputting to my receiver via optical cable works just fine. The problem it does have though is there are no digital connections on the card to the DVD player.
