Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 Overclocking - 517MHz FSB

I've been messing around with the Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 processor this afternoon and have been overclocking it all day with great results. I've found that at the stock 8x multiplier I can reach 480MHz FSB with stability at 485MHz with partial stability. I've been using the Kingston HyperX PC3-11000 2GB kit (part number KHX11000D3ULK2/2G) with the Corsair Nautilus 500 water cooler to keep things nice and cool...

Here is stock performance with 5-5-5-15 timings...

Cinebench 9.5 - this one is a bit hard to read, but it's 26 seconds....


Here is what happens when you overclock the FSB from 333 to 517 with a 7X multiplier...

Worried that the memory was slowing down performance I changed the Kingston HyperX PC3-11000 UL out for some Corsair XMS3 DHX PC3-10600 modules that operate at higher clocks.

Even though we bumped up the memory speeds we had to relax the timings and believe it or not the Super Pi score remained the same... Either way I'm impressed and very pleased to be hitting a stable front side bus of 517MHz on the Intel Core 2 Duo E6750!

Have you tried to set "transaction booster" to enabled (1) in the bios? It should give a nice boost, but it might not work at those speeds ;)
Also what temps are you getting?

Well, I think my MoBo might be a bit of a problem, not 100% sure yet, but it might be. Without droping the multi at all, I'm having problems at 475 FSB and above. But I am super stable and cool at a mid OC of 3.6 GHz with vcore of + 0.125v. Still alot of work to do on this thing, I've only had this thing in my rig for a few hours now and just started running Orthos again after getting tried of messing with 3.7, time for a break I think and go for a walk.

I'd give the S-1 a go just for S & G's, the G0 stepping dual cores really do run fairly cool, the S-1 has to be better than the stock HSF I would think.

3.6 GHz from an E6750 is OK but not great. Franky I was expecting more from that particular chip, it seems the G0 stepping may offer lower operating temps, but that in itself does not guarantee high overclocks. Engineering samples of the E6750 were hitting 3.8 GHz, some were hitting 4GHz on air, so 3.6 GHz is a bit of a let down. The humble Pentium 2160 Dual Core will do 3.4 GHz on air & 3.6 GHz on water cooling for 1/2 the price.

True, 2xxx cache its just too small... I'm with an Allendale, 2mb i guess its fine but it pisses me off when people with double cache need almost half the time in some fah proteins! Besides, 6750's price is nothing.. i mean it costs as much i paid for my e4300 not long ago. I bet a 6750 at 3.6 beats down a 2160 at 3.6 easily anytime.

Put the E6750 in the right MoBo and 3.8 or better won't be a problem, my cheap old 650i board is what's hold my chip back. I hit 3.6 with just a small bump in vcore and NB voltage.

I'm still thinking of getting a nice little Gigabyte P35 board, anyone have a spare they want to donate to a poor old man..........
