They were giving away keys for the open beta for this but I think that the last day was Sunday. I have tried out the beta and I am not impressed with it so far. I like Wolfenstein: ET better :)

Lets add another game that will be awesome

World in Conflict: Release Date: Sep 20, 2007
An alternate past has come to life where the soviet union has not collapsed in 1989, and the soviets start world war III.

The game will be played out like Company of Heroes, but instead of constructing buildings, and collecting resources you just get units, and if they are destroyed you automatically get new ones at the nearest drop point.

Hmm...Interesting.. :-k

Wonder how big this rivalry will be. I bet we will see a mass blitz of adverts for H3 as a result of MS's deep pockets and promise to the public that this game will outsell everything on the planet.....

The MMORPG market has been kinda disappointing lately. I haven't seen a quality online RPG in quite some time. I tried a few but most leave me longing for something else. The latest 2 most prominent offerings were Vanguard and Lotro.

Vanguard was extremely demanding and would only run well on super systems. That is the one thing that got me started on building my current system. I finally got the game running at 40 fps on the highest settings, but by that time, I was bored with the game....it was missing something.

Lotro started out great, but I quickly realized it was not a game for the casual player. At around level 35 the solo content diminishes and you are forced to group. Most of the quests are Multi-part chains, making the game even more frustrating than fun. The game also has no pvp system to speak of.

I am now looking forward to Age of Conan, and Warhammer Online. I registered to beta test these games months ago and still haven't heard anything.

I read about Tabula Rasa (MMO) today, looks kind of interesting. Think the article said drop-date of 19 October. I didn't see anything about monthly pricing on their site.
The basic story is that in the near future aliens invade Earth and destroy almost all of humanity. Players are the only survivors and they must travel the stars to defeat the aggressors.
Another thing Garriott is known for is imbuing his worlds with moral dilemmas. In Garriott's games, players could not kill or steal and expect people around them not to notice. The choice was still there, but it came with a price.

"Tabula Rasa" has a similar mechanism dubbed the "ethical parable." In one case, a player must ferret out who is stealing medical stimulants from a military clinic. It turns out that soldiers are using the drug to give them a badly needed edge in battle. The player must decide whether or not to turn them in.

Hellgate London sounds kinda cool and I like the fact that it crosses genres.

I am currently in the beta for Tabula Rasa....not a bad game but just doesn't appeal to me.

Update:

World in Conflict is not as good as Company of Heroes, and it costs $10 more.

I played the first level, and the textures are somewhat boring and plain. It is hard to go from CoH to WiC.
