tech_freak: You should aim to get a replacement fan that does at least 63CFM (which is what the stock 92mm fan does).

I got my second Eliminator yesterday and it performs like crap. My first one made a lot of noise, caused by air trapped in the pump. The one I have now is more quiet, but just like the first one, cools like ****.

Yeah, I know, I forgot to paint on the load screenie.

These temps are way to high, while the fans runs at HIGH speed.
My e6600 now runs back at stock and the idle temp at medium = 40 degrees celcius and the load temp = 50 degrees
Those temps are to high I guess, judging to what I have seen in the reviews.

I have the D1-1004 with the date code 15-07, so that is April. I have the 2pin plug. Already mounted the unit twice, first with the standard dark grey thermal grease, and the second time with Arctic Ceramique, no difference in temperature. Coolit doesn't respond very quickly through mail :?

what voltage and settings are you running that CPU at? what are all the system details? Got a picture of it in the case?

Rye: I believe the two pin plug is still part of the older revisions that have issues. The new ones have a four pin plug but only utilizes two of them. The temps you posted are about right if you are running the Eliminator on the MEDIUM setting. I assume you are overclocking so you should definitely set the Eliminator on HIGH. I was getting idle temps of 37-40c on HIGH setting with stock 92mm fan on my E6700 overclocked to 3.3ghz. If your worried about noise, you can replace the stock 92mm with a 120mm and control the fan with a separate fan controller.

Based on all of your individual experiences with the latest revisions, whats the verdict? I'm looking to replace my stock cooler for my E6400, is this a good choice? I don't wanna get to complicated and this seems nice, simple and fairly affordable (compared to a full WC system...) If not this, then what else should I get.

Thanks for the help everyone,
Kevin

My verdict is: don't buy it!
The temps are not as promised, and it makes an awfull lot of noise, well at least mine does.
I will upload a little file containing the noise my Eliminator pump makes.

My screenies were taken @ 3.6Ghz @ 1.5V @ HIGH. Those temps are crazy considering that this are the temps it should get:
Image

My room temp is now 20.7 degrees Celcius and my Idle temp is now 47 degrees
Stressed I now get around 66 degrees stressed. When looking at the screenshot from the 3dhardwareman review that means that an increase of 400Mhz and a decrease of 0.03V will raise the temps with almost 30 degrees stressed and 20 degrees Idle. I dont believe that.

I live in the Netherlands and the shop said that only the new revisions have been sold in Europe, not the old faulty ones.
Still my Eliminator doesn't cool as good as it should, my ThermalTake BigTyphoon performs almost the same, IDLE 45 stressed 70. WOW, a 3/4 degree drop for only 182€.

I'm going to RMA this product again, hopefully I will figure a way out to get my money back and else I will sell my replacement unit for around 170€ (shipping cost included)

Edit: this is the sound file: http://home.wanadoo.nl/fam.tilstra/pump.mp3

your water pump is bad and you need to RMA it... Mine also went bad and just today I got in my new unit... The noises in the above post are identical to what my unit did and if you unplug the water pump it stops...

Old Date Code - 0507
New Date Code - 1507

Below are pictures of the old and new units... The original one I got (Date Code 0507) had a label on the pump and I posted it below.

well crap... just noticed my finger was blue...

If you look at the above picture you'll notice the new one (the one with the rubberband still on it) is leaking coolant out of one of the cooling tubes...

Both of the retainers can be moved with my fingers on the new model, while on the old one they couldn't be twisted... Quality Control needs a good smack in the face for this one.

It's not a bad leak, but WTF

*Sorry for all the edits, I don't know how long I have before my computer crashes again.

I have a question or two, but first some background. The first one of these i bought installed quite nicely without issue. I noticed that my temps were pretty high though (42 idle), so I returned it and got another. The new temps are lower, but still seem pretty high(38). Also, now my computer keeps getting the bsod and crashing every couple of minutes. I went into windows setup to run a repair (the bios gave me a warning stating that the cpu had been changed), but the system crashes just when windows setup is about to appear (after loading all of the drivers and stuff). Whats going on? Did I damage the mobo or cpu? I should add, I am running an amd 6000+ at stock speed. I should also add, you know how the brackets have a curve to them? I installed min so that the curve was going up, like a smile. I figured this would provide the most tension. Is this the correct way to do it?

could be a number of things, but that doesn't sound like the cooler... In the BIOS what does it say for CPU temp?

Well after talking to the CEO of CoolIT about the problems on the replacement unit they sent me out a third one and this one was said to be tested by him personally and is the lastest and greatest revision of everything. This one has all black hoses and water blocks as they have recently moved to Norprene tubing. Norprene will not weaken or crack following years of exposure to heat and ozone, so this tubing should last longer.

Image

This model also has a different control module than the old one as it has a four pin header now...

Image

Original Review Unit Date Code - 0507
First Replacement Date Code - 1507
Second Replacement Date Code - 2607

I hope this will be the last one as it has numerous changes to it according to CoolIt... The major changes are of course the improved tubing, the new impeller in the water pump, and the new power header for the PCB.

oh well... I took the plunge and installed it back in my personal system that is on 24-7....

How are the temps on the newest revision Apoptosis?

My first replacement Eliminator (date code 0507) has been running fine on HIGH setting so far, but I don't run my system 24-7. A friend of mine has the Freezone and one day after reinstalling all his parts he discovered the coolant was leaking from the cpu water block like yours. Hopefully Coolit is sending out these new black Eliminator revisions and not the older ones (with blue tubing) for replacements as I will be sending mine back if I experience any similar problems you guys have mentioned.

well I have my Intel QX6700 running at 3.25Ghz w/ 1.350Vcore....

Before I put it in the system I checked my air cooling idle temps...

Idle on the Thermaltake Big Typhoon VX was 52C
The Eliminator with the date code 2607 on high gets 43C and on medium it gets 54C

So, when I run it on high the temps are okay, but on medium it doesn't even cool as good at the Thermaltake Big Typhoon VX, which is a $50 heatsink.

If you change the stock fan with something better does it improve temps?

Also how are the loads temps compared to the Big Typhoon?

Zertz: If you replace the stock 92mm with a 120mm high CFM fan, you can get your temps 3-5c cooler (depending on what fan you use). With my Silverstone 120mm set on high, I can get my temps about 4-5c cooler than the stock fan. You can also lower the 120mm fan speed in favor of less noise while still achieving the same temps as the 92mm.

Lets hope that with all the changes that its a reliable revision now.

Shame you didn't check load temps nate as they would have probably been more telling than the idle ones. But so far it looks to be a lot of money for something that looks cool, but doesn't quite perform as good as hoped.

Hi Apoptosis,

Have you tried switching off the two 120mm vents on top of the case? I'm using an eliminator as well, but on an AMD5200+ and a DFI SLI M2. My memory sockets are located at the back of the CPU. So they are located right underneath the eliminator.

Image

I bought an OCZ memory fan. But before I've put them in, my core #0 and core #1 temps are just 20C+/-. Here's a screenshot of my temps before:

Image
Image

but when I installed the OCZ, I saw a huge jump in the two cores, core#0 is stuck at 34C+/- and core#1 is at 28C+/-. I've connected the OCZ to a speed controller and see digit decrease on temps when I lower the fans.

Both temps are taken at high settings, stock speed and on idle.

Ambient where I live (Philippines) is about 32C.

If I turn off the two top case fans my case temp and cpu temp increases, so I have them left on...

On another note my pump started to make noise again yesterday... It's been on high/medium 24/7 since August 15th... So it lasted exactly 20 days before it started making noise.

Holy crap! i feel lucky my Eliminator has worked flawlessly since i got my second unit and ive transported it to multiple lans and Quakecon. No leaks or noisy pumps or anything.

Its sad Nate that they sent you one that the CEO personally inspected and it still crapped out. makes you wonder how shoddy their inspection process is for the units the normal consumer gets. Using fancy neoprene tubing isnt worth much if they use cheap pumps.
