D865PERL Upgrading new CPU

Im upgrading CPUs from an intel 2.8E to 3.4 extreme edition CPU.but am i suppose to update my BIOS again after i install the new CPU.will my D865PERL motherboard recognize the CPU. Also what do you folks think of this upgrade in CPU. Good idea bad idea?

upgrade it with the old working cpu first. Then put the new CPU in

If I we're you I'd save the money and buy a whole new rig later.

Ok i just upgrade my intel CPU 2.8E to 3.4GHz extreme edition and it did recognize in BIOS.But i don't see any improvement. im Running with 2 sticks 512mb ram and 2 sticks of 256mb DDR ram total 1.5GB OF RAM.do i need more memory?any suggestion
