Overclock no longer working??

Post by CMcguire »

Hey guys for some reason my oc has stopped working..

I had set my q6600 to 333x9 and it was working fine...
Then i had a failed vista update one day.. and when i rebooted the computer... got post error screen change settings blah blah blah...

I reset to 9x266 and it booted fine...

Any ideas as to why it would suddenly stop working like this?

and its not the cpu voltage and it isnt heat related...

sometimes this just happens... Part of the fun when you overclock I guess... The Vista update that came out Tuesday was a bit funky on my Vista system also and had a hard restart, but other than that it's been good to go. Just re-set the settings and make sure the volts and temps are okay... if they are just keep an eye on it to see if it crashes again.

yeah those critical patches seemed to mess big time with some system configs...

I'm just happy that I didn't have any issues with any of the system here at home with the latest updates...............;) Simply manually ran Windows update, rebooted and everything was good to go...........:)

Well the weird thing was that when i went back in after the updates i couldn't get back to my old settings.. aka 333..
I just updated to the latest bios and turned off eist (not sure i had this on in my original overclock.. can't remember it might have be reset with vista upgrade and maybe that was problem)

Just past post now back on 333.. i'll have to run orthosx2 for a bit to make sure its fairly stable..

Vista is so so very annoying..
