Which To Buy Logitech G3 or Logitech G5?

My current mouse is a big POS and needs to be replaced. I've never owned a "gaming" mouse and have narrowed my decision down to the G3 or the G5. Which one would you buy and why?

I know Razer makes good mice but I'm not interested. I also do not want a wireless mouse.

G5, more customisable.

The adjustable weight system seems like a good idea, as my MX1000 is too heavy for my liking (but I'll live).

Surely its an easy choice between if you want a 'more ergonomic' hold of the G5 vs the almost symmetrical approach of the G3.

of the 2, I would go with the G5... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6826104072 even comes with Battlefield 2142. If you already own the game or aren't into the genre, sell it and recover some of the cost of the mouse (I'd give you $20 for the game. heh)

I actually use the MX518, with is basically the same shape as the G5 and I love it. I have played on the G5 a bit, but never had the opportunity to adjust the weighting to fit my style. I like the idea of it though.

I'd go with the g5..I wrestled between that and the mx518 i have when i was looking for a mouse...they both have the same shape which is phenomenal..my hand has never cramped, felt weird, or contorted.....so yea..go for the g5 in my book

A different forum is telling me to pass on the laser mice and pick up a MX518. Thoughts?

Like I said, I love my MX518. "shift on the fly" sensitivity, great feel, very accurate. I use it on my gamer and my every day machine as well. I just built another computer for my son to game on and I'll pick up an MX518 for him soon as well.

How is the scroll wheel on the MX518? Precision wise is it accurate? How about the click on the mouse wheel? Every FPS I play the scroll wheel click is my reload and a nice precise wheel can mean the difference between a different gun and something you don't want.

the click is very nice, I don't find any "slush" in it at all. I noticed on some of the microsoft explorers I use, if you are center clicking, that it tends to slush from side to side a bit, but the MX518 doesn't do that at all. I play R6:Vegas and center click is zoom, so I use it all the time. Also, center click often in Firefox, so it's an important part of my computer time. If the center click was poor, I definitely wouldn't own 2 of these mice.

Thanks that solidifies it. I'll pick up one of these later this week. Anything has to be better than what I have now.
