Microsoft error

Post by Merlin »

My son loves Ben Ten and there is a game on the website that he likes to play. For some reason it wont play. It will load up fine but the min you try to Morph into an Alien ( that's what Ben 10 does) it crashes. I have re-installed internet explorer, ran DxDiag, Updated video drivers and it still wont work. The error message that is generated when it crashes say this "C:\DOCUME~1\storm\LOCALS~1\Temp\9f12_appcompat.txt" is the location of the application error. Any ideas??

download ccleaner and clear the temp folders. Seems like you've eliminated everything, so maybe it didn't install correctly the first time. Have you reinstall or upgraded DX?

ok so here is what I have done...re-installed all of the following....Adobe reader ,Adobe Flash PLayer, and Adobe shockwave, Direct X, Video drivers, I have also ran CC Cleaner. The darn game will load and it will run for a little bit or untill I try to make him transform. I have also ran windows update to make sure I am fully up to date. This is why its easier to overclock your CPU....at least I can tell what I did wrong when smoke comes out of my case.

What's the link to the game, maybe we can replicate the error.

I could transform fine on mine. Did you try to get the latest java and flash updates - probably just flash, but it never hurts to check both :)

Mike

I failed the level I tried too - couldnt find all the Sumo cards, and it started ticking me off :p lol

Yep, I think it was a flash game.

hmm...already updated video drivers....

delete all your temporary internet files then try again

hmmm.....try firefox ( although I dont like it, it might work )

Mike

If I think of anything but clearing the temp files I will let you know...you did everything I would have suggested so far :)

Its not a flash game, its shockwave. You need to reinstall shockwave. I had an older version and had to reinstall it.

Have you reset your internet options?
goto internet options in control panel, select "use defaults" at the bottom of the advanced tab.
You could also try to disable your firewall software, if you have any.
I've seen an issue before with flash/shockwave not working with mcafee firewall, but I guess it could happen with some others as well.

Have you tried firefox? Even if you stick with IE, you could use it to eliminate IE as the problem, and it could be usefull to have installed if some malware corrupts IE in the future, which it's known to do.

Tried Firefox and same thing. I am fresh out of ideas. I did have my PC and my wifes both set up in the same room with all the same software downloaded from all the same places and it worked fine on hers but never has on mine.
