WD 40

What will it do to the plug on my touchscreen i am now 100% that it is the video plug going into the back, i was told to put something like WD 40 on it to increase the conductivity, unless you guys/girls say otherwise.

I wouldn't, but thats me, you increase conductivity between the wrong pins and you get that lovely burnt smell. WD40 also will soften plastic and rubber because it soaks it up like a sponge.

Why not take some rubbing alcohol and a Q-tip and clean the pins?

i would go with the rubbing alcohol and a Q-tip suggestion. or even some very very fine grit sand paper might do the trick if they are really bad. just be sure to blow it out afterwords

rubbing alcohol is the only thing I would ever put on electronics... this reminds me of the guy who washed his keyboard in the dishwasher

I wouldnt stick WD40 and electrical stiff together... there is a cleaner that is used in cars designed for cleaning electrical parts. i would give that a try. I forget the specific name of the stuff, but i have used it to clean all sorts of electrical stuff in my vehicles with no problems. I understand there is a difference between computers and cars, but the need is the same - clean, improve connectivity, dont break the part and cause a short somewhere.

...and if it moves, but it shouldn't, there is a wonderful product called Duct Tape

But seriously, WD-40 and electricity are probably not a good match.
