Brazilian, 125, May Be the Oldest Woman

Post by Apoptosis »

I honestly don't know if I'd want to live to be 125 years old, but if I still had my memory/body intact it would be pretty cool. I can't imagine all the things that she has seen in her lifetime. The first cars, flights, nuclear weapons, the AIDS epidemic, jet aircraft, the Polio epidemic and so many other things have happened in her lifetime. Congrats to this lady who proves you can live to be 125 and not use the Atkins diet!

SAO PAULO, Brazil - An elderly woman living in a small, wooden shack in rural southern Brazil could be the world's oldest living woman, according to a Brazilian record-keeping organization.

Maria Olivia da Silva, who recently celebrated her 125th birthday, "is definitely the oldest living woman in Brazil and possibly in the entire world," said Iolete Cadari, administrative director of RankBrasil, this country's equivalent to the Guinness World Records.

Just think man that face has seen 125 years of time go by. I'm just amazed that our body can live for that long in this day and age.

Totally agreed. What was the average life span say like 500 years ago? Not nearly as long as it is today! Just wait 'till we get nano technology! :)

in 1500, living until your late 40's was old, now there are quite a few over 100, and 80 plus is common.
