Favorite FPS

Post by w00fd06 »

Alright, my friend seems to think that Halo 2 is the best FPS, ever, with Halo coming in second, of course, i have to disagree, though, personally, i like Quake 4, but that's just me, any opinions? :ANAL:

Half-Life series hand down.

They revolutionized the FPS genre with half-life one. They also proved that shooters don't have to have lame stories.
(personally I think the halo story is lame)

Story wise... Half Life (the original) was great.

Action wise... unreal tournament 2000.

I have the same opinion for both Halo 1.5 and Half Life 1.5. Aside from the grav gun, there was nothing revolutionary with either of them. Both of these games are fairly high atop my list of games I wish I'd never bought.

I also prefer Half Life, but I'm not the biggest fan of the FPS Genre. I used to play Gears of War, but it kept fudging with my xbox360...to the point where I had to have it serviced.

Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. This game got me into computers and computer hardware. I bought the game took it home to find out I couldn't run it. I soon found out that I needed a video card to play it. I went to CC, applied for a credit card, and picked up a Geforce 4 Ti4400. After several months of playing MP I decided I wanted a faster computer. I ordered my parts and assembled my first PC. From there it has snow balled into the family/friends computer guy. The story for MoH:AA wasn't that good if I remember correctly but I easily logged over 2000 hours into the MP.

don't you need a video card to run your computer?

or do you mean something more powerful than what you had?

Aliens Versus Predator was by far the first big FPS before HL and all that... It was also the game where Fata1ty got his first competition win.

HL was by far my favorite though.

HL Series has been my favorite for shooters. I still jump on and blast around in Team Fortress when I'm feeling angry, gotta love it. HL2 could have been better - was more of a "look at what we can do" instead of providing a good solid story. Beat it way too quickly.

Halo (original) is my favorite console FPS, but I don't do much with consoles. Keyboard/Mouse FTW!

BIO-SHOCK!!! That's my favortie for sure!!!

I'm playing it at the moment and enjoying every minute of it. :)

I think it'll definitely (at least in my opinion) the BEST FPS ever!

I'm so close to finish it, so I wonder what will I play next...as there's still enough time till Crysis will be out... :(

I think my favorite single player FPS is probably Far Cry, it was just so awesome looking for it's day and the game was fun I felt. Mostly because of the idea and the challenge of it. The weapons were lacking though.
Multiplayer Wise: Probably UT2004 (soon probably Unreal Tournament 3 will replace it). That or Counter Strike: Source.

Nothing pumps up my adrenaline as high as a quick deathmatch game in Counter-Strike 1.6 or UT2K4.
Story-wise, I never really bought any game to know about it. I did try FarCry and Halo Combat Evolved... and they was meh.

HL was a FPS game? I thought it was a strategy... #-o HL definitely is one of my favorites that got me into the FPS genre, and from there into CS 1.6 for awhile. Xwing vs Tie Fighter was another, it is FPS except you just have a big starfighter around you.

Team Fortress 2 has got me back into the FPS scene though. Seems like a well thought out game, for a beta it has only a few rough spots! :)
