help me get my key back!!!! PLEASE!

I can prove in 100 ways I own the game its properly installed and legit, I'm sending pics and videos of me logging online to prove its a legitimate key on my computer and pics of the case the insert that came with it and my name in it. but, I need to redo my computer and reinstall windows pretty bad. you can tell by the load of the game at first that I need to redo it. But, how can I find my key? I like to read in the bathroom and I think I left it in there and my gf threw out the mags in there since they were old. PLEASE HELP I can do whatever it takes to show I have a legit copy and if you know how and think its risky telling me how so people don't goto other peoples houses and steal it write it on pm. I'll show you my stack of games that I pay for so you know I dont just rip them off if you need.

the insert is upside down and in some asian writing but, the other side is english.
to get this game online I had to register it online so obviously its legit in that way too.
I will send the entire vid of me booting the game up and playing it when its done encoding

I know the key is encrypted in the registry for Battlefield games. You might try to google and see if there is a way to retrieve it from the information you have... or of course, since it's legal, contact EA.

If the key is encrypted like DaIceMan said, then this won't help, but In the registary what is the code at the following location?

# Click the plus sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
# Click the plus sign next to Software.
# Click the plus sign next to Electronic Arts.
# Click the plus sign next to EA Games.
# Click the plus sign next to Battlefield 2142.
# Click on the ergc. On the right panel screen, double click on default.
# You should see a code under Value Data.

I think there is a random type prefix of something like x9392 at left most part of the code. Does the rest of it look like your key?

the key has the 9392, but the rest is garbled crap and nearly 200 characters long, containing nothing that looks like the key.

I don't know if this will work but it's worth a try. I don't own BF 2142 and I haven't had BF2 on my PC in a long time (might be encrypted the same way). Try and download Jalapeno Keyfinder 1.06 and see if BF 2142 is in the program. If not move on to other programs that can find CD keys/serials located on your machine. I know Everest Ultimate has a license section so you might get lucky and find the key in there (assuming the trial doesn't screw with you).

The Belarc Advisor will report some software keys it finds for loaded programs on the computer.

For example, it reports all of my MS stuff and Ahead softwares for the Nero Suite.

I would say that using a "key finder" on your computer to find the legit key for the install CD is a good try. What is really frowned upon is a key generator in the software industry. So, the key finder shouldn't be a big issue to use.

EA games tech support stinks. We've only tried their support line once for a NHL hockey CD game we own.

Jalapeno only says 1942 in the read me, and didn't find the key for BF 2 or special forces when I tried it.

Try looking for the "Magical Jelly Bean" Keyfinder.

Since release 1.41, it's been able to find the key for 1942 according to many other forums on the web that I've read. However, version 2.0 is a complete rewrite of the program. The last release version prior to 2.0 is 1.51. It may be a "safer to use" program since it doesn't change the key like a cracking program would. But then again, a changed key may not work with the install CD's you have anyways.

The nice thing is, the program allows you to print or save your keys to a file in the event of ever loosing them like you did.

If all else fails you could always rebuy the game. If it was really that good of a game, and you still play it after all of these years, don't the developers deserve an extra purchase? Plus, its probably about $20 now.

So I'm off by a millenium or two.

I've only played 1942 and it didn't dawn on me about looking at the number.

When looking for 2142, I came across this ...

"...In your BF2142 folder there is a CD key changer. Your CD key may be displayed using the program. Just navigate your way to your '\Battlefield 2142\Support' folder. ..."

"...Key Changer? You mean like to re-enter the one you got with the game? You can put your key back in in the support folder of your BF2 directory with the program labeled "CD Key" whatever. Other than that there is no way to change or modify your CD legally. ..."

So, somewhere there is a program in the "support" directory that allows you to find out your key.

Here was another solution ...

HA-ha! I think I've found the answer ...

"Run>type "regedit" and press OK>press the + on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE> press the + on SOFTWARE> press the + on Electronic Arts>press the + on EA Games> press the + on Battlefield 2> click on ergc and your cd key will be shown under data. Mine looks like x9392HHDHUEYK5JKDDJD3JKDH, but the first 5 digits are not a part of my cd key. ignore first 5 digits. So the example key would look like this ... HHDHUEYK5JKDDJD3JKDH. This only works if no patches were installed for BF2. "

key changer does NOT display the key. That's the first thing I tried. I also pulled out my key and tried to make any sense of the gibberish in the registry, and it's definitely not in there anywhere, unless you happen to have the algorithm and can decipher it from there.

they want to charge me for a new game at 50% off so 25 dollars and shipping so 30 dollars for the cd key. I sent pics with my account name with my real name my email address and video too and they won't kinda hurting. If the games weren't good than I'd quit using their products. But fact is no matter how dick they are they still make good games.. Kinda sucks. I'm just cracking the program and it lets me online at least. But, I'd rather have a legit copy just incase some update catches it

I lost my CD key for Diablo2 once, due to a format. I researched the net and found several programs claiming to unearth the key from an encrypted file, and they all turned out to be trojans, so be careful.

Blizzard wanted $10 to supply me with a new key once I provided proof that I purchased the software. Thats bad enough without charging someone 50% for a game they already purchased, so I feel for ya. Game companies know when they have you by the balls, so they squeeze.

I'm not sure how you lost the cdKey, but 30 bucks sounds reasonable for a new/replacement game with a new key.
the first thing I do after a sucessful install of ANY software that needs a key is write the key on the CD/DVD with a CD safe pen (careful, some non-cd safe markers will damage the disc)
AND on the cd case. that way as long as I have the media, I have the key.

I always install the game and mount it on A120 so I don't go through the hassle. I just did a copy my program files and redid my comp.. Then tried to play the game and it said missing file so I went into the folder of the stuff I kept in the windows located the file and BAM it was there and works legit now finally. I've been using cracks since I didn't have it but, I couldn't use it on many multiplayer places they claimed it was modded for cheating with punkbuster
