I want to recode video files which are already in DivX/Xvid (Mpeg 4) into smaller DivX files, so I can play them on my Palm Treo.
Does anyone know of any software that will do this and also support dual core?
I've tried DivX converter, which does support dual core but doesn't allow you to change specific DivX codec settings. I've also tried TMPEnc4 (avi to avi) but it doesn't support dual core with .avi files for some reason.
I have Avid Liquid pro, but I don't want to install this on the laptop as it takes too much space, and it's a bit to overkill.
I just want to convert a ~700mb file to ~300mb with good quality, something the programs listed above can't do.
It doesn't have to be DivX btw, xvid/wma etc will do just the same...........I just want of have something to watch on my 8hr flight to St. Louis on Friday as the laptop can "only" give ~4hrs.
Thanks,
Ken

Don't know if it will help, but I use dvd shrink 3.2 and nero.

Re: Recode Divx files
Tried them, the files are the output of dvd shrink and are already in DivX. If I use Nero it will output to Mpeg which gives larger file sizes.vbironchef wrote:Don't know if it will help, but I use dvd shrink 3.2 and nero.
Thanks anyhow!

http://www.pocketdivxencoder.net/ - probably an easier solution ?
http://www.omniquiti.com/store.php - costs $8 - some people think it is a godsend, otherslike PDE better - personal choice.
http://www.pqdvd.com/watch_dvd_on_pocket_pc.html - $35 - I would try the free things first ;)

VirtualDub is a good pick. A bit technical, but a simple quick read of their FAQ should get you going in no time.
